Practical Motorcycle Test

Your practical motorcycle test will be conducted from the Mulit-Purpose, Test Centre, Gateway Business Park, Nigg, Aberdeen.

After the examiner greets you he will then proceed to check your documents. When attending your Module 1 or Module 2 practical test you will always need to take four documents with you.

If you have an old style, non-photo-card, licence you will need to bring:-

  1. Your driving licence.
  2. Your passport.
  3. Your CBT certificate.
  4. Your theory test certificates.

If you have a new photo-card licence you will need to bring:-

  1. Your photo-card.
  2. The paper counterpart.
  3. Your CBT certificate.
  4. Your theory test certificate.

On Module 2, the examiner will then attach their own radio to you and this will be followed by an eye-sight test on a standard number plate at no less than 20.5 meters.

You will then be asked two ‘show-and-tell’ questions and one pillion passenger question before being told to sit astride the bike when you will then be given a radio test. The examiner will tell you to relax and follow the road ahead unless he or she tells you otherwise or unless you are directed otherwise by any road signs.

The examiner will then take you on a test route for around 30-35 minutes of varied riding. During your road session you will be asked to perform the following;

  • U-Turn.
  • An angle start.
  • A hill start.
  • Approximately 3 to 5 requests to pull in at the kerb in a safe place and then ride on when it is safe to do so.

After this you will be asked if you would like your instructor present during the debrief and then you will told your test result.

Should you be unlucky enough to fail you will have to wait ten clear working days before you can re-sit however you can rebook another test that day.
